Ian Joyce is principal of August Communication Consultants, which he launched in 2005. He counsels marketing agencies, non-profits, educational institutions, and health care, financial services and third-party logistics brands, and assists with their digital strategy and content.
Since founding August, he:
- worked with a digital agency to define online strategy for a national bank with multiple, diverse lines of business
- created a model social media program that powered 20% annual fundraising growth for an international health-related charity
- helped educational institutions better connect administrators, faculty, students, alumni and donors
- grew brand awareness of a leading, global contract logistics provider
Previously, Ian Joyce was vice president of marketing for Definition 6, a unified marketing agency based in Atlanta, GA. He led the agency’s marketing efforts and consulted with clients that included Internet Security Systems (now part of IBM), Georgia Pacific and La Quinta Inns.
His career spans 30 years of agency and corporate marketing work, and the last 18 years he has focused primarily on digital channels.
Non-Profit and Volunteer Work
Ian was co-founder of Firstround Greensboro, which served early stage start-ups companies. He was a member of the steering committee of the NC Piedmont Triad’s first angel investment fund.
Ian is national volunteer chair for the JDRF Ride to Cure program, which funds research focused on curing type one diabetes. He also supports the program as a USA Cycling certified coach.
